Itinerary
From Siem Reap: Beng Mealea Temple & Kampong Kleang floating village
Discover the marvelous Jungle Temple of Siem Reap - a hidden treasure.
Off the beaten track and away from typical tourist routes, this temple has only recently become accessible to the public, thanks to the improvement of the roads leading in. An easy day trip from Siem Reap, the Hindu temple, which also depicts some Buddhist motifs, is now easily visible.
Unlike Angkor Wat and other temples in the area, the Jungle Temple has been preserved in its original state. Sandstone blocks, secret passages, hidden archways, and fallen galleries all add to the adventure of exploring the ruins.
Your local guide will reveal the history and mysteries of the temple as you tour the magnificent grounds in the heart of the jungle. After you have explored the complex you will then be taken to see the nearby village of Kompong Khleang, and your guide will show you where the sandstone was cut from the mountain and explain how the blocks were transported to the site.
You will then stop for a well-deserved rest and lunch at a Khmer restaurant.
